Song Book
Music, Laughter & Tears is a musical journey into the human heart,... the gifts I would give my children that will last forever.

Son-rise is the story of a little boy, given up by society as hopelessly autistic. Due to the devoted efforts of his parents, Raun Kahlil began to want life and to want love. Thank you, Barry Kaufman, for your book, Son-Rise. And you Raun for your warm hugs and the song you gave us all.
Son-rise Son-rise, look all around you. Now I have found you; what do you see? Son-rise, tears are in my eyes; Rain from your blue skies falling on me. Rising free from the chains that have long held you earthbound, Soaring high through the sky on the wings of your mind. Let me share in the joy of the wonder that you've found. Take me there, anywhere, never leave me behind. Son-rise, don't hide the smile now. Just for a while now, want what you see. Son-rise, shining in your eyes, Breaking through dark skies, shining on me. Keep shining on me, son. Keep shining on me, son. Son-rise, keep shining on me.

Friendship |
Just Around The Corner is for all of you, my friends. I hope we will meet again someday, around the corner of our lives.
Just Around The Corner It was so good to meet you. You only shared one day with me. Yet it seems like forever, now that it's gone. It feels like I've known you from some forgotten yesterday; and I'll take you with me as I travel on. Meet me just around the corner, where the autumn leaves are turning, and when time is softly touching the color of our dreams. Maybe just beyond tomorrow we can share a little laughter, and we'll find another rainbow in the songs of love we sing. Thanks for your smile, and for the tears that softly fell. Thank you for sharing a piece of your sky. Sometimes it's not easy to say the things we really feel, like seagulls in summer just learning to fly. Meet me just around the corner, where the autumn leaves are turning, and when time is softly touching the color of our dreams. Maybe just beyond tomorrow we can share a little laughter, and we'll find another rainbow in the songs of love we sing.

Independence |
My Road I don't know where the road's going to go but it's my road. I don't know how heavy the load, but it's my load. I'll take the pain that no one can share. I'll bear the sorrow no one can bear. I don't know where the road's going to go, but it's my road. I'm so afraid to give you my hand, you may not take it. I'm so afraid to give you my heart, you might break it. I have to learn to stand on my own. I have to learn each man walks alone. I don't know where the roads going to go but it's my road. I'll take the dream I'd forgotten before, and I'll dream it. I'll write a song to carry me on, and I'll sing it. I'll find that highway, follow that star, with my faith in God and my old guitar. I don't know where the road's going to go, but it's my road. I don't know where the road's going to go, but it's my road.
All The Love In The World captures my favorite things in a song: mountains, meadows, peacebirds and yellow roses. Thank you, world, for all the love.
All The Love In The World Fresh yellow roses, clear summer nights, wild flowers heavy with dew; Mountains and meadows, and beautiful sights, all the love in the world is you. White sandy beaches, clouds I can taste, snowflakes on winter days, too; raindrops and kisses still warm on my face, all the love in the world is you. I can reach out and touch you wherever you are, even though we are so far apart. I can still hear your laughter, and wish on a star I could hold you so close to my heart. Deep coral sunsets, birds flying high, waves on a bright sea of blue; I will never see rainbows without knowing why all the love in the world is you. All the love in the world is you.

Friendship |
Don't Be Afraid Don't be afraid of what you don't understand. There's always a reason. Don't be afraid when your neighbor takes your hand. Love is always in season. If someone's lonely outside your door, say "Come on in, we have room for more." Don't be afraid to let love come into your life. Walkin' along, walkin' along the street, there's people all over. Singin' a song, singin' a song so sweet, you're lookin' them over. For all God's children there's room to grow. A stranger is a friend that you don't know. Walkin' along, singin' a song of love. Don't be afraid of the feeling in your heart. Be willing to wear it. Love is so warm you will want to pass it on, knowing others can share it. The world is waiting to year your song. So sing out loud and we'll sing along. Don't be afraid to let love come into your life. Walkin' along, walkin' along the street, there's people all over. Singin' a song, singin' a song so sweet, you're lookin' them over. For all God's children there's room to grow. A stranger is a friend that you don't know. Walkin' along, singin' a song of love. Don't be afraid of what you don't understand. There's always a reason. Don't be afraid when your neighbor takes your hand. Love is always in season. If someone's lonely outside your door, say "Come on in, we have room for more." Don't be afraid to let love come into your life. Don't be afraid to let love come into your life.

Loneliness |
Keep Me Warm Loneliness feels like an oak tree in winter, a house that is empty, a hearth that is cold. Loneliness feels like two feet without slippers, and hands that nobody will hold. You may not know it, and I may not show it, but I need a shelter away from the storm. Please, be the sunshine that falls all around me, the blanket that helps keep me warm. I'm old and I'm weary and almost forgotten, the people who loved me have left me behind. If you'll open the door to that someone inside me, who knows of the treasure you'll find? You may not know it, and I may not show it, but I need a shelter away from the storm. Please, be the sunshine that falls all around me, the blanket that helps keep me warm. Loneliness feels like an oak tree in winter, a house that is empty, a hearth that is cold. Loneliness feels like two feet without slippers, and hands that nobody will hold, hands that nobody will hold.

Parents |
Music, Laughter & Tears The toys are all broken you opened last year, and your coat isn't new like before. Your puzzle is missing some pieces, I fear, and your train set won't run any more. Your teddy is missing his black button nose, and you're tired of the old games we play. So I have something special to give you, my son. Don't forget what I'm giving today. I want to give something that never grows old, sweet moments to warm you when life is turning cold. What gifts can I give you to last through the years? I'll give you music, laughter, and tears. I'll teach you the songs that my daddy taught me, and I'll sing you his soft lullabies. We'll share all the laughter and joy that we can, and I'll cherish that smile in your eyes. And if you want to cry when you hear a sad song or a story that ends the wrong way. Please, don't be afraid of the tears that God gave. They will show what your heart cannot say. I want to give something that never grows old, sweet moments to warm you when life is turning cold. What gifts can I give you to last through the years? I'll give you music, laughter, and tears...music,laughter, and tears.
My Mother's Hands was written for my Mother, with special thanks to Bishop Koy Miskin,... whose inspiration helped create this song.
My Mother's Hands Her hands nearly trembled the first time she touched her small bundle the day I was born. They guided me gently through childhood dreams and mended the clothes that were torn. I love the warm smile she wears every day, and the sweet voice that gently commands. But I'll always remember through good days and bad the wonder of my mother's hands. Sometimes they were gentle and soft as the rain, when she kissed me and tucked me in bed. Sometimes they were firm as she led me away from the dangers that lay just ahead. All the work they have done and the burdens they've borne, I know only God understands. There is magic and mystery when I think about the wonder of my mother's hands. How I wish I could help now the hands that helped me. They are wrinkled and so filled with pain. She sits by her window and dreams of the time she can bake bread and sew once again. I know when she passes from life's rocky shores to more distant and beautiful lands, she will not be alone for a moment, I know, for God will be holding her hands. God will be holding her hands.
Playclothes is a song about a little boy who died, and a mother, Jay Kocheff, who had the courage to share her fellings with the world in her beautiful poem, which was the inspiration for this song. It is dedicated in loving memory to Jerry Kocheff.
Playclothes You lie here so still, my little son, with long, dark curls and your playclothes on. How I wish I could watch you run, your soft hair shining in the sun. How many times I prayed you'd sleep for one more hour in my busy week, so I could wash, or clean, or bake a pie, some cookies, or a cake. How many times did I get upset when you spilled your milk upon the step, or scattered your crumbs on my clean floor, left those smudges on the door? If only you'd wake in my bad dream and scatter your toys over everything. If only I could see you smile, and hold you close for a little while. Oh, God, please forgive all those bad days I had when I got so upset with this sweet little lad. Take care of his love while we are apart. And leave his footprints in my heart. With his curls and smiles, his laughter and fun, who lies here so still with his playclothes on, who lies here so still with his playclothes on.

Live Each Day is in memory of my dear friend, Joan Paul. Her candle will long brighten each darkened corner of our lives.
Live Each Day When you live, live every day as if it were the last day that you'll be living. And when you give, give every day as if it were the last gift that you'll be giving. Don't ever give with half a heart, or shine with half a light. Live each day as if it were the last day of your live. You can't take back those thoughtless words you said before the dawn was breaking. But you can say "good-bye" today to all the big mistakes that you were making. You can take just one more step and give it one more try, living each day as if it were the last day of our life. You don't have to save the world - just mend one broken heart, And even if you've never loved before, it's not too late to start. Love begins where "now" begins, it doesn't take too much to ease the sorrow. It matters not what fortune brings, for only God can give tomorrow. So when you sing, let each man hear one sweet song through the strife, living each day as if it were the last day of your life. Live each day as if it were the last day of your life.
