Two Little Shoes
by Deanna Edwards
I Can Give You Love
I can give you love. It's a feeling in my soul.
I can give you love to last for a lifetime, dear.
I can give you love. I am dreaming wild and free.
Any time at all come closer to me.
When you're feeling the world holds out an empty hand,
And you're looking for help to see you through
There's a reason to turn around and face the sun again
Knowing that I still wait for you.
I can give you love. I can give you love!
Please believe in me forever -
Please believe in me, my love.
Please believe in me for I can give you love.
I can give you love. I can give you love!
The shoes that inspired this song belong to a blond-haired, blue-eyed boy in our family named Eric. It was written for him and his brothers; Shon, Steve and Jeff.

Two Little Shoes
They are all scuffed and worn from adventures
That only a child understands.
The laces, once broken, are mended.
Tied in knots by a boy's tiny hands.
When his two chubby arms come around me
In a hug I can never refuse
I think all the wonders of heaven
Are tucked in those two little shoes.
And each night I kneel.
My heart sings a prayer.
Thanks, dear God, for one little boy
And two little shoes on the stair.
I think of the harsh words I've spoken
When those shoes scattered mud on the floor,
But I know that my heart would be broken
If someday they weren't there any more.
I see them at night where you left them
On your way to a dream coming true.
My heart fills with love overflowing
When I look at those two little shoes.
And each night I kneel.
My heart sings a prayer.
Thanks, dear God, for one little boy
And two little shoes on the stair.
Thanks, dear God, for one little boy
And two little shoes on the stair.
Be My Light
When our hearts have been broken
And dreams are forgotten
It's easy to feel all alone.
But He'll pick up the pieces and put them together
And tell us that we are His own.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel, I know,
For He promised this darkness would end.
Precious Lord, give me strength for the journey ahead.
Be my light. Be my guide. Be my friend.
When we go through our trials
It seems like there's never been someone
Who's been there before.
But alone in a garden He gave us "forever."
He could not have given us more.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel, I know,
For He promised this darkness would end.
Precious Lord, give me strength for the journey ahead.
Be my light. Be my guide. Be my friend.
BE MY LIGHT. BE MY GUIDE. BE MY FRIEND
Reminds us that our most important purpose for living is to learn to love better.
Loving Is The Only Way
Take one red rose, and the smile from a friendly face.
Add a little faith in the Lord above.
Take a helping hand and a heart that knows the way.
Then you'll have the recipe for love.
There's so many people who are hungry
For the love that only you can give.
You can find a way to share it every day.
Loving is the only way to live.
Come walk with me on the sunny side of life.
Plant a little seed and watch it grow.
Sing a happy song and the world will sing one too.
We can make a miracle I know.
There's so many people who are hungry
For the love that only you can give.
You can find a way to share it every day.
Loving is the only way to live.
LOVING IS THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE.
One Sunday evening when I was singing at a little church in Tracy, Minnesota, the minister, Homer Dobson, showed me a want ad that had been placed in the newspaper by a senior citizen in their community. I was deeply touched by the message: "Wanted: one family to eat Christmas dinner with. I will furnish the turkey". Wanted: One Family was written with the hope that because of the ad, placed by Joe Smarzik, there will be less loneliness in the world on Christmas day.
Wanted: One Family
On a cold and frosty morning I picked up the local paper
And read the ads to pass the time away.
The radio was playing my favorite Christmas music,
Preparing for a special holiday.
The snow was falling quietly
And a distant bell was calling me.
Through the bitter cold such warmth was coming through.
And then so unexpectedly these words were looking back at me,
And I felt as if my heart would break in two.
"Wanted ... one family to share my Christmas Day.
Wanted ... one friend to take the loneliness away.
I'm not asking much of you. I'll only stay an hour or two.
I'll even bring the turkey if you call.
It's been a long and lonely day
Since I have watched a child at play.
And children are the greatest gifts of all"
The Christmas story filled my mind
And the night when Joseph couldn't find
One room for little Jesus to be born.
So in a manger filled with hay
The King of Kings was gently laid
And angels sang for joy that Christmas morn.
My own dad died in early spring
And could'nt help remembering
How much my children missed their Grandpa's love.
With trembling hands I took the phone
And called the local nursing home
And found the dear old man who wote these words:
"Wanted ... one family to share my Christmas Day.
Wanted ... one friend to take the loneliness away.
I'm not asking much of you. I'll only stay an hour or two.
I'll even bring the turkey if you call.
It's been a long and lonely day
Since I have watched a child at play.
And children are the greatest gifts of all"
Yes children are the greatest gifts of all.
In an era where numerous love songs carry the themes, "I can't live without you" and "I'm no good without you," my husband and I wanted to create a song about the affirming qualities of love and self-esteem. If We Should Say Good-Bye was written especially for those young people who have ever experienced the despair and hopelessness of losing someone they love.
If We Should Say Goodbye
I hear them on the radio,
And when there's no place else to go,
I sit and listen to the songs they're playing.
"I'll die without your love. I'll cry without your love."
This is the message all the love songs are saying.
But I've a new song I could write.
If I should lose your love tonight,
Everything will be alright in my life.
Touch, but we can't depend too much.
When our love becomes a crutch.
We are lost and so afraid to try LIFE.
Free, love affirms the right to be.
If you walk away from me,
I'll be strong enough to take it.
My love can never chain your soul,
Can never gain control.
And I know that we could make it
If we should say Good-bye.
You've touched my soul with tenderness,
And my life has been so blessed
By the shining doors you opened for me.
Our love will live eternally
If we learn to set it free,
Whether skies are bright or dark and stormy.
Free, love affirms the right to be.
If you walk away from me,
I'll be strong enough to take it.
My love can never chain your soul,
Can never gain control.
And I know that we could make it
If we should say Good-bye.
I Can't Believe My Eyes
I never saw a morning born before
Or watched a brand new sun arise.
But here it is right in front of me
And I can't believe my eyes.
I never watched a baby day begin,
Touchin' all the stars goodby.
But here it is, right in front of me,
And I can't believe my eyes.
But I can fly when I believe in you. Fly into the sun
Oh I can fly, fly.
When will it begin, or has it already begun?
I never knew a joy like this before,
Or thought a smile could make me cry.
But here you are right in front of me
And I can't believe my eyes.
But I can fly when I believe in you. Fly into the sun
Oh I can fly, fly.
When will it begin, or has it already begun?
I never knew a joy like this before,
Or thought a smile could make me cry.
But here you are right in front of me
And I can't believe my eyes.
I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES.
Find A Friend
Music Clip 1:50 [ 278kb wma ]
Find A Friend
We're so much alike.
All you have to do
Is open up your eyes and look at me.
I am searching too
And I have a feeling when you're close to me.
I'm just like you. You feel it too. You're just like me.
There's so much to learn.
Will you share the sunny rooms
And shattered walls within your mind?
I am lonely too
And I know that special friends are hard to find.
I think it's time that you found me and I found you.
If we never take the risk we'll never know
How love can grow and days will end.
Footprints in the sand soon will disappear
Unless we follow them
To find a friend... find a friend.
Before this day is through
Maybe we will have another song to sing.
I'm glad you came.
I won't forget your smile
And heaven only knows if we will meet again
But just the same,
I'll know your name. You'll know mine too.
Find a friend. Find a friend. I'll find a friend in you.
I Don't Believe In Heroes
He signs his name for people in a hurry.
Just a famous name on paper, nothing more.
I like his song that's playing on the jukebox,
But I don't believe in heroes anymore.
I live in Cresent City down on Grove Street
With a tree in front and lots of kids next door.
I feel so good inside when Johnny bugs me,
But I don't believe in heroes anymore.
I built my dreams on someone else's glory.
I lived my life through someone else's pain.
I read about those big stars in the movies,
Forgetting that inside we're all the same.
I believe in me and all my feelings,
And I believe in what I'm living for.
I believe that love's strong hand can open any door,
But I don't believe in heroes anymore.
Butterflies
Soft wings in the shining sun;
A rainbow's just begun in your eyes.
I can see butterflies!
They fly through the skies above
Sowing their seeds of love
Out from flower to flower
And from star to star
Where love can never die
And I will fly to you.
They say that the full blue moon is just a big cocoon
And that someday in the bright midnight dawn
It will break in the starry sky and out of it wiil fly
Oh such love untold, all the sky can hold,
And in it's glow I'll find you.
And I will fly to you... and I will fly to you!
