When we lose a loved one we can still communicate with them through the power of love. This song could also be God's personal message to us. |
Remember me Remember me whenever you see a sunrise. Remember me whenever you see a star. Remember me whenever you see a rainbow, Or woods in autumn colors from afar. Remember me whenever you see the roses, or seagulls sailing high in a sky of blue. Remember me whenever you see waves shining in the sun, And remember, I'll be rememb'ring you. Remember me whenever you see a teardrop, Or meadows still wet with the morning dew. Remember me whenever you feel love growing in your heart, And remember I'll be rememb'ring you. Remember me whenever you feel love growing in your heart, And remember I'll be rememb'ring you.
In a hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, I sang for a beautiful young foreign exchange student, Astrid Muller, before she died of multiple injuries sustained in an automobile accident. While visiting her family in West Germany a year later I wrote the song, REMEMBER ME. While writing the song I was impressed by the thought that when we lose a loved one we can still communicate with them through the power of love. This song could also be God's personal message to us.
This song was written in a small village of Northern Germany for a family whose teen-age daughter had been killed in an auto accident. They said that her name was rarely mentioned, and that they had a need to remember Astrid in their thoughts and conversations. All of us have a need to be remembered. It is a comfort to know that even when death seperates us, we can continue to communicate and live through the power of love.
